James Diggs began serving as Pastor of Chestertown Church of
the Nazarene in August 2014. Pastor Diggs is a native Marylander who grew up in
Prince Georges County. He served as Pastor of the Corridor in Glen Burnie
Maryland for seven years and has also worked several years for a homeless
shelter in Washington DC. James has also been a House Parent working with at
risk boys from Gary Indiana and Chicago and has held various other ministry
positions over the years. Pastor Diggs holds a Bachelor’s in Pastoral Ministry
and Theology and is an Ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene.
James has been married to his wife Karrie since 1994 and they have three children together; Jakob, Jessika and Joseph. As a family they all genuinely enjoy spending time with one another, and so you will often find them together whether they are all out or hanging out at home.

Growing up James always wanted to make movies before he felt a call to the ministry. He’s still a bit of amateur “film” maker, and is always drawn to good stories. Sci-fi, fantasy, comic-books, and pulp fiction stories have always captured his interests, but he also loves old classic films. Musically, though being a fan of U2 could still be considered contemporary, his love for Genesis, Phil Collins, Sting and the Police, calls him out as a child of the 80’s.
James is very outgoing and loves to sit and talk with both old and new friends. He loves getting to know people of diverse backgrounds and is always looking to learn more about the perspective of others. He desires to find ways that we might help “the least of these” among us and feels that in serving others we always gain something far more valuable than what we could ever give.
