Christmas Eve Bonfire
Join us on Tuesday December 24th 7pm for our Christmas Eve Bonfire!
This Christmas Eve outdoor event is for gathering under the stars around the fire as the Shepherds may have done in the wilderness when they were visited by angels who told them about the imminent birth of Jesus. Join us around the warmth of the fire, for fellowship and hot cocoa, followed by a short devotion, quiet contemplation, and concluding with singing "Silent Night". |
Christmastide – The 12 Days of Christmas
This year we will be working to reclaim the Christmastide tradition and celebrate the Christmas season for all 12 days. We have some community events to celebrate together at various points through the season and we have suggestions for how you might celebrate on your own, or with friends and family on days where there is no specific event scheduled.
Suggestions to Celebrate the 12 days of Christmas: In addition to participating in our community Christmas tide events, take your time and spread things out. Save some personal or family Christmas traditions to do later during Christmas tide, which in the past you may have done earlier in December, or even Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Set aside some gifts to give and exchange later into the Christmas season. Save some favorite Christmas movies to watch during the 12 days of Christmas. Make a special Christmas meal, play games. Etc.
Wednesday, December 25, 2024 – 1st Day of Christmas - Christ-Mass - Christmas Day Church Service 11am
Thursday, December 26, 2024 – 2nd Day of Christmas “Feast of Saint Stephen” & “Boxing Day” - Fellowship Hall 7pm
This day is about giving gifts for the poor – We will have a short devotion and Christmas Carol then we will “unbox” shelter supplies and set up Homeless Shelter.
Friday, December 27, 2024 – 3rd Day of Christmas – “Feast of Saint John”
Suggestions: Celebrate the abiding love of friendship which transcends “family.” Have Christmas dinner with a friend or friends. On this day, traditional toasts are made with “Saint John’s love”, a mulled wine from which the alcohol is boiled away. See above for more suggestions to celebrate the 12 days of Christmas.
Saturday, December 28, 2024 – 4th Day of Christmas – “Feast of the Holy Innocents”
Suggestions: The Feast of the Holy Innocents is a somber day during Christmas to reflect upon the children of Israel who were slain by Herod’s forces in an effort to kill Jesus. Read Matthew 2:13-23. Reflect upon the children who have been killed in Israel in recent days, the children who have been killed in the Gaza strip, the children who have been killed all around the world through violence war and poverty. Think of children who have been killed in our country through school shootings. Think of families and children who are refugees as they flee violence around the world.
